High Speed Steel - Closed

Due to a bigger and more exciting project in the works I no longer have the time to commit to making this blog what it should be. The content of this blog will remain available for anyone who wants to view it.

It therefore remains for me to say thank you to everyone who has visited and supported High Speed Steel over the past year and you'll hopefully see more from me in the future.

Project 550: Complete...

The CB550 has been finished for a few weeks now but I have been waiting on a couple of things before posting up photos. Apologies for the lack of content during recent weeks. Finally, here is Project 550: complete...

Tim's Triton...

This bike is the real deal, totally uncompromising and one of the best Tritons I've ever seen. British to the core...

Ariel Arrow...

A strange beast, but I kinda like it....

Repatriated...

Normal service is now restored here at High Speed Steel as I've returned to the mighty Albion. Here are selection of photos of why I love France. Also, project 550 has suffered a slight setback and has had to return to the workshop for further wrenching. This shouldn't run for too long and I'll hopefully have some nice finished shots before long. For now, enjoy the post!

Sojourn...

I'm going here for two weeks. I'll be back with finshed shots of Project 550 as well as some nice shots from Provence to share with you all. Au revoir!

Project 550...

A few days away from completion now. Here's an in-progress shot of the custom silencers...

Project 550...

Finished fabrication of the rear bracket for the number plate etc. It was hand-formed, TIG welded and then had a custom made stainless steel bayonet bulb fitting riveted in. It's off at the painters now.

Project 550...

I must offer another apology for the lack of updates. Been a heck of a week, but....

Project 550 is almost done! Wiring is finished, tank is painted and the seat came back from the upholsterers this week. Check it out...

Just exhaust left to do. Stay tuned...

Day Off

Decided to have a day off today as it was the first time in ages that the sun had come out. Here's a few shots of our walk up the river...

Project 550...

Been working on a pair of stainless steel headlight brakets for the CB550. The "ears" have been autogenously welded (that is without using any filler) onto 3/8" bar. The welds were pretty tidy so I took a few shots with the macro. Photos of the finished brackets to follow.
