Project 550...

On the making of a stainless steel speedo face...

An idea I've had for a long time finally came together this week. Having created a new design for the speedo face and getting it printed up, I set about making the actual face out of brushed stainless steel. After a bit of milling, turning, hand work and careful reassembly I'm rather pleased with the result...

  1. Very impressive. It's all in the detail.. I would love to know how you've machined the number slots on that face.
    Keep up the great posts!

  2. Thanks. They were scribbed out through the original face and then I drilled several small holes. I then ran an end mill through them and finished with swiss files and patience!

  3. I thought so...nothing like a big box full of patience, good drill bits for stainless and decent files. I'm assuming this is your bike, right?
